🏛️ A Little History

Built in the 1500s to quarter Spanish troops garrisoning the viceroyalty, the grid of narrow streets stayed working-class for five centuries, dense, tight-knit, and until recently firmly off the tourist map.

💡 Did You Know?

The great Maradona mural on Via Emanuele De Deo, painted in 1990 and restored in 2016, anchors what is effectively an open-air shrine to the city's adopted saint, candles, jerseys, and all. Number 10 is retired from the club forever.
